£2 Bus Fare Cap from Monday 7th September 2026

McColl’s Travel will be participating in the Transport Scotland £2 Bus Fare Cap Interim Scheme from Monday 7th September 2026.
From this date, eligible Adult and Child Single fares on participating McColl’s services within the SPT scheme area will cost no more than £2 per journey.
Where an existing single fare is already less than £2, the lower fare will continue to apply.
What is changing?
From Monday 7th September:
Eligible Adult Single fares above £2 will be capped at £2.
Eligible Child Single fares above £2 will be capped at £2.
Existing single fares below £2 will remain unchanged.
Return tickets will be temporarily withdrawn from sale across all McColl’s services during the scheme.
Most other McColl’s commercial multi-journey products will also be temporarily withdrawn.
Loch Lomond ticket products will remain available for travel on Service 309 and will continue to be available through the myTrip app. From Monday 7 September, these tickets will no longer be valid for travel on Services 305 or 306.
National Entitlement Card (NEC) and other eligible concessionary travel will continue as normal.
What do I need to do on the bus?
Simply tell the driver where you are travelling to as normal.
It is important that you continue to give the driver your correct destination, even where the fare shown is £2.
Service 309 – Drymen & Balmaha
Service 309 operates beyond the SPT scheme area into the Stirling Council area.
The £2 fare cap applies to the eligible part of journeys within the SPT scheme area. Different fares may therefore apply to journeys which continue beyond the scheme boundary towards Drymen and Balmaha.
We are currently finalising the ticketing arrangements for these cross-boundary journeys and will provide further information as soon as these are confirmed.
Loch Lomond ticket products will continue to be available on myTrip for passengers travelling on Service 309.
When does it start?
The new fare arrangements will apply from the start of service on Monday 7th September 2026.
Until then, our existing fares and ticket arrangements continue to apply.
