About McColl's
Company History
McColl’s is a family business founded on 19th May 1966 as Duncan Stewart Coaches in Dalmuir, Clydebank.
For a time, Mr William McColl worked for Duncan Stewart Coaches as a Mechanic and Private Hire driver, however, after 7 years, the company became a part of the McColl’s family.

In 1994 the company bought out John Oliver Coaches located in Drumchapel, Glasgow who provided local private coach hire. In 1995, Averon Coaches in Duntocher, Clydebank was bought out who provided School Contract services. In 1999, the company bought over MacTavish Coaches & John Boyce Coaches located in Dalmuir, Clydebank who provided Private Coach Hire and some local service buses.

John Boyce Coaches is still present today but under the McColl’s Group and only operates school services. Then in 1996, McColl’s Commercial Repairs was established and provided repairs & maintenance of commercial vehicles. McColl’s Commercial present day now only repair & maintain our own vehicles but expansion plans for this business is already underway to include a new Commercial Workshop & MOT Testing Station.

In 1999, Duncan Stewart Coaches was renamed McColl’s Coaches and moved to Ballagan Garage outside Balloch, Loch Lomond. At this stage, we operated some local service buses throughout Balloch & Dumbarton and provided competitive Coach Hire. We also operated McColl’s Chauffer Drive which included Rolls Royce, Damailer, Jaguar and Mercedes Benz vehicles not to forget the Coaches.

Both companies worked “hand in hand” (part of slogan) and operated until McColl’s Chauffer ceased trading in 2001 due to the expansion of McColl’s Coaches.
Today
In 2005, McColl’s began to expand and moved to larger premises in Dalquhurn Industrial Estate, Renton. However, in 2007 after on two years at the new depot, the company moved again due to new housing developments into Vale of Leven Industrial Estate of which we are located present day.
Since our move, we have significantly expanded our local service buses throughout Balloch & Dumbarton including branching out to Glasgow City Centre.
We now operate a fleet of over 60 buses throughout the area with over half our fleet Super Low Floor buses (Disabled/Buggy Access) and strong reputation. With our competitive prices, commitment to safety & outstanding service history, we are one of the best operators in West Scotland.
Our future is clear, we plan to continue expanding and providing the best possible service to all our customers.
